INDEX OF ONLINE HELP FILES
--------------------------
There are help files in most of the Windows and Dialog Boxes in
this package. Here is an index of what you will find in the OnLine
Help files available from the various "Help" pulldown menu buttons.
All of this material is covered in the User Manual, Installation Notes,
and Addenda that accompany the purchase of the Full software package.
The OnLine Help files are a brief outline of the User Manual. If you
plan to read the OnLine Help files, rather than the User Manual, the order
of suggested browsing is: 2 to 9, then 1. Help files 10 & 11 below describe
features not accessible in the DEMO version, namely the computation and
viewing of very large images (4Kx4K and 8Kx8K).
1. OnLine Help General "Information" (this file):
NOTE 1: Credits (authors of ideas and code);
NOTE 2: Names & Sizes of the catalog Film Strips;
NOTE 3: Size & contents of the Sample Film Strips;
NOTE 4: How to create repeat patterns easily using commands
from the 4Dgifts directory.
2. OnLine Help for "Work Windows" (WW)
Used to compute & explore new images.
3. OnLine Help for "Film Strip" windows (FS)
Used to store collections of 1 or more images.
4. OnLine Help for "Equation..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Edit" menu)
Used in a WW to change image parameters.
5. OnLine Help for "Image Format..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Edit" menu)
Used in a WW to change the aspect ratio & size of the image.
6. OnLine Help for "Colors..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Edit" menu)
Used in a WW to edit image colors.
7. OnLine Help for "Coordinates..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Navigate" menu)
Used to view or input image coordinates.
8. OnLine Help for "Interpolation" Dialog Boxes (from the FS "Animation" menu)
Used to quickly compute animation flip books of small image icons and
then create (but not from the DEMO version) full sized image sequences
for final output.
9. OnLine Help for "Playback..." Dialog Box (from the FS "Animation" menu)
Used to animate flip books or make slide shows of any Film Strip.
10. OnLine Help for "Compute to File..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Windows" menu)
Used to compute ultra large images directly to disk (not accessible in DEMO).
11. OnLine Help for "Load from File..." Dialog Box (from the WW "Windows" menu)
Used to view ultra large image disk files (not accessible in DEMO).

A significant and critical portion of IAI's startup R&D funding
was provided by the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP)
of the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC) through 2 grants:
Grant #O-4180-M-15 (October 1990)
"Novel Mathematical Methods for the Generation of Artwork

"Commercialization of the IAI Prototype Package"
Considerable thanks are owed to Steve Palmer, at IRAP/NRCC, for
his faith in IAI's staff, ideas and products.

NOTE 2:
The catalog Film Strips have been assigned to separate directories to
greatly reduce the number of files per directory, in order to ease the
ability to list files in shell windows, open WorkSpace directory
windows and reduce the time taken to Open and Save Film Strips.
WARNING: Do not load too many long Film Strips into a single file
directory or you may find the directory unmanageable. File
OPEN and SAVE, as well as WORKSPACE DIRECTORY VIEW operations,
may take too long.
There is also a set of sample Film Strips, consisting mostly of short
animated sequences. These are also listed below.
The actual number of frames in each Film Strip in the directory
./catalogs is listed below:
EQN_01/EQN_1D.fs 9 frames
EQN_01/EQN_1M.fs 7 frames
EQN_02/EQN_2D.fs 14 frames
EQN_02/EQN_2M.fs 12 frames
